LAWRENCE (CBS) – Two men at the center of a dramatic standoff in Lawrence are being held without bail.

Jose Gonzalez, 29, and Rafael Tejada, 43, hid behind a door and wouldn’t show their faces in court.

On Sunday, someone called 911 while Gonzalez and Tejada were allegedly robbing McCann’s Liquors on South Union Street.

Officers surrounded the building, and the suspects surrendered after five hours.

During the robbery, the men, both from Dorchester, pistol whipped the store owner and beat up a worker and a customer. All of them were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover..
