Celtics Sign Carlos Arroyo

BOSTON (CBS) - The Celtics have signed free agent guard Carlos Arroyo, a source confirmed with WBZ-TV's Dan Roche.

Arroyo was the starting point guard for much of the season with the Miami Heat, but was released so the team could sign veteran point guard Mike Bibby.

The veteran guard averaged 5.6 points and 2.0 assists in 49 games with the Heat this season.

Arroyo, who will be eligible to participate playoffs, will back up Rajon Rondo, while Doc Rivers tries to limit his starters' minutes as the playoffs approach.
