Authorities: Malden Men Died In Murder-Suicide
MALDEN (CBS) -- Authorities have determined that the men whose bodies were found Wednesday in a Malden apartment were victims of a murder-suicide.
At about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday police were called to the Pleasant Plaza building on Dartmouth Street after a janitor in the building conducted a well-being check and discovered two "obviously dead bodies" in the apartment.
Both men, who have now been identified as Burton Berenson, 65, and Irving Burkin, 65, who both lived in the apartment, had been shot and were in separate bedrooms.
The medical examiner performed autopsies and determined Burkin died from multiple gunshot wounds and his cause of death is homicide. Berenson died of a single gunshot wound and his cause of death was suicide.
