Worcester Woman Beaten While Walking Home

By Christina Hager, WBZ-TV

WORCESTER (CBS) – Police are looking for a man who attacked a Worcester woman, and repeatedly kicked her in the head as she walked near her home Sunday morning.

Neighbor Mike DeMauro says he heard the woman screaming for help.

“They were kind of really terrible screams you know, like someone really getting hurt,” he says.

WBZ-TV‘s Christina Hager reports.

Police say witnesses saw a man in a hooded sweatshirt, and when officers arrived, they found the 48-year-old woman injured and lying in a snowbank.

“It is unknown at this time if robbery was the motive or if it was an attempted sexual assault,”  said police in a press release.

Residents say it’s a quiet neighborhood, where women normally feel safe walking around at all hours. “It’s alarming, definitely gives you pause,” says one woman who lives on Farrar Avenue where it happened.

The victim was treated and released from UMass Memorial Medical Center.

How sad its becoming unsafe now to walk in ones neighborhood.

I think now is a good time to ask the unions and the city, what are they going to do to protect the people who live/work and visit Worcester. That goes for everyother city\town in the A.S. Of A.

    Sorry. U.S. Of A.

Hey 1608 this is about a women getting attacked. Keep your political B.S to yourself and think about what we could do to prevent this, there’s only so many Cops to go around.

And people still find the need to ask me why I need to carry a gun…? Perfect example, you don’t need to be looking for a confruntation, innocent people can become needless victims. Not me, eveyone should be prepare in some form or another. Find some way to protect yourself or run the risk of falling victim.

Atleast someone called and tried to get the poor lady some help!

Lets hope that there are some qualified police officers looking into this situation. Did you know? The test they use for promotions was failed by 90% of the takers! Although I have my opinion about that too. I believe the powers to be decided they needed some revenue now those 90% plus the add’l takers will all have to pay to take it again. So if your PD is slow in responding maybe it’s because they don’t have any qualified leaders because nobody in their PD passed the test! LOL… Yes I talk about this whenever I can because I find it very interesting that w/ all the Police officers I know that took the test – only 1 passed it… and I tell you I wouldn’t want him being the leader of anything – I think he was good at guessing – not what I want the PD being… good at guessing!

Pick any decade in the 1800’s… It was the same then…The difference is that the media presents as happening 24/7 EVERYWHERE.If there were 300,000,000 people that wern’t assaulted the media would hunt down the ONE in East Overshoe Mississippi that was and blast it out.
