Some Doctors Won’t See Unvaccinated Children

By Paula Ebben, WBZ-TV

BOSTON (CBS) – Over the past few years, many parents have chosen not to have their children vaccinated due to the fear of side effects.

Now some doctors are saying they are no longer interested in seeing these unvaccinated children at all.

The consequences of skipping a vaccine can be severe.

To this day, Lori Buher regrets that her son Carl didn’t receive the vaccine for bacterial meningitis.

WBZ-TV’s Paula Ebben reports.

He ended up losing both legs and three fingers.

“They were telling us he was going die,” she explained.

Cases like that prompted Dr. Bradley Dyer to throw down the gauntlet.

He will no longer treat kids who haven’t received their vaccinations.

“We wanted to take a strong stand and say this is so important to us that it’s deal breaker for us,” said the Dr. Dyer.

“If you’re not willing to vaccinate your kids, if you’re not willing to trust us and trust our judgment and education, then we have a philosophical difference here,” he added.

Some diseases which were on the verge of disappearing spiked as more parents made the decision not to vaccinate.

Critics of this decision say those children become potential carriers of diseases and can make other people sick.

Dr. Ari Brown of the American Academy of Pediatrics said, “In 2008, three babies who were too young to be vaccinated ended up getting measles from an unvaccinated child who had measles in the waiting room of their doctors’ office. So when doctors refuse to bring in patients who are not vaccinated and have them in the waiting room, that is a very valid concern.”

Barbara Loe Fisher, the co-founder of the National Vaccine Information Center, gets angry when she hears doctors talking like that.

“We feel it’s very important for parents to get all the information they can.”

She added doctors “need to have a civil rational conversation with parents, and not be bullying and threatening them.”

Many parents became scared when they heard about a possible link between vaccines and autism several years ago.

That research has now been discredited.

The problem here is doctors who study allopathic medicine are usually very closed minded about other paths for treating disease. Vaccines distrupt infants immune systems, can cause a life time of allergies, behaveral problems and in some severe cases death. I understand doctors concerns, but the choice to vaccinate is exectly that a CHOICE. Parents should not “Just trust doctors!” they should do there own reaseach and make desions based on what feels right for them and thier family. parents should not feel pressured by doctors to do make desions for there childrens health.

    1. Don says:

However, the CHOICE not to vaccinate can cause a lifetime consequences too.

Consequences for the parents who follow these other ‘no-vaccine’ paths and thus cause harm to their own children, sometimes on a par to child abuse and neglect.

Consequences for these unvaccinated children who can needlesly suffer or in some severe cases die due to the same diseases, othervise avaoidable and preventable.

Consequences of spreading such diseases to others.

Charlene fails to respond to the following two facts stated in the article:

!. “To this day, Lori Buher regrets that her son Carl didn’t receive the vaccine for bacterial meningitis. He ended up losing both legs and three fingers ‘They were telling us he was going die,’ she explained.”

      2. ” In 2008, three babies who were too young to be vaccinated ended up getting measles from an unvaccinated child who had measles in the waiting room of their doctors’ office.”

Parents should not “Just trust Charlene!” They should keep in mind that the vaccinate or not to vaccinate decision could cut both ways and adversly affect their children, others, as well as parents themselves.

“Consequences for the parents who follow these other ‘no-vaccine’ paths and thus cause harm to their own children, sometimes on a par to child abuse and neglect. ” First of all this statement is extreamly ignorant.

    Don,

Your comments just prove that people are close minded and brain washed by society. I am simply just trying to say that allopathic doctors are not the only doctors that are knowledgeable in treating childhood diseases. Doctors should not be dismissing care to children based on the fact that thier parents have a different view or belief on what is the right decision for treating or preventing childhood diseases. And I did not say to “JUST TRUST ME”. Ill say it again DO NOT JUST TRUST YOUR DOCTOR. DO YOUR RESEARCH AND EDUCATE YOURSELF. MAKE YOUR DECISIONS BASED ON WHAT YOU FEEL IS RIGHT FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!

Doin’t trust the Doctor….Think for yourself…Go to Med School..become a Doctor…..Don’t be surprized when harebrained air heads don’t trust you either.

  4. Sammied says:

Good for him. These parents think they know better than the medical profession. So be it on their head when the child gets measles, etc. The parents with the different view are endangering their child and raising health care costs when the child needs intensive medical care for a disease that it never should have got in the first place.

  5. John says:

The scientific gold standard test of any medication is the double blind, placebo controlled study. THERE HAVE NEVER BEEN ANY STUDIES OF THIS TYPE DONE FOR ANY VACCINE. Never. Vaccines also contain a myriad of toxic ingredients, such as detergents and heavy metals. Many of these additives are used as preservatives and money saving ingredients and are totally unnecessary outside of these concerns. This one of the worst articles I’ve ever read about this issue. Completely one sided and ignorant of the real issues at hand. The studies linking vaccines to autism have NOT been discredited at all. This author has not done his research.
