Celtics' Perkins Out Rest Of Trip

BOSTON (CBS) - Boston Celtics' center Kendrick Perkins will miss the next three games with a strained MCL in his left knee.

The good news, CSNNE's Rich Levine joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's The D.A. Show Thursday morning and assured Celtics fans  this is "not a big deal" for Perkins.

Perkins banged knees with Golden State's Stephen Curry in the second half of Tuesday night's 115-93 victory over the Warriors. He did not return but stayed on the bench for the remainder of the game.

The problem with the injury is the Celtics were already slim at center. Shaquille O'Neal is rehabbing a sore Achilles in Florida and Jermaine O'Neal not expected to return until the playoffs, if at all. That leaves rookie Semih Erden as the only active center over the next week.

Levine also said Doc Rivers would not rule out Shaq joining the team on the current West coast trip, but a return Wednesday March 2nd at home against the Suns is more likely.
