BOSTON (CBS) – The Bruins “Sheriff” may be returning to town.
According to the Bruins’ team website, defenseman Shane Hnidy has joined the team in Vancouver on a tryout basis. He will practice with the team, and get a shot at joining the Bruins for the rest of the season.
Nicknamed “The Sheriff,” Hnidy played in 108 games for Boston over a season and a half from 2008 to 2009. He scored four goals and had 13 assists during his time in black and gold.
Hnidy could join an already solid defensive core that includes Zdeno Chara, Dennis Seidenberg, Johnny Boychuck and last week’s big acquisition, Tomas Kaberle.
