BOSTON (CBS) — Senator Scott Brown isn’t the first politician to write a book, nor will he be the last.

In fact, he’s joining a long list of politicians who have sat down to pen their memoirs.

Jon Keller talks with David Bernstein from the Boston Phoenix about this trend.

Part Two

The 60 Minutes interview with Scott Brown will air Sunday at 7 p.m. on WBZ-TV and WBZ NewsRadio 1030.

  2. emom says:

gee this encourages me to write a book of my life, of all my trials and tribulations, of all my struggles but all I have endured,, gee wonder if it would be a best seller,,, I bet it would since my lifes story has more to offer and plenty of truth,,

    1. Joanne says:

Unfortunately emom you probably aren’t famous like the polatition so no one would read it. Believe I thought about the samr thing!!!! I also have been abused ,but my abuse was consumated for 7 yrs starting at 3. I would love to write that book to help others but because I am not famous or political I don’t have the money nor would I get backed by any one to write it. I guess that’s just the way it goes. If I had the money Boy could I write a book, as I am sure you could also. Take care

  3. Cynic says:

“I was Born and I’ve lived this far.”…..Hows that for openers?….Makes you want to run right out and buy the book doesn’t it?…. Save your money…. Thats the whole story…..

  4. Stephen Stein says:

I hate the term “memoir” for someone who is still alive in their 50s or before – a lot of interesting stuff hasn’t happened yet, has it?

In any case, a reason not explored by Mssrs Keller an Bernstein for politicians writing books: if your political career might not be over, and you have a whole bunch of campaign funds, your campaign can buy copies of your book! The book becomes a vehicle for laundering campaign funds into your own personal bank account! Voila!

There is an old saying that next to the writer of real estate advertisements, the autobiographer is the most suspect of prose artists. Like so many before him, Scott Brown is just another politician who is letting everyone know all of the good things he should have done and some of the bad things he did do. I haven’t read the book yet but I certainly hope that he gives proper credit to his mother for her many bad choices.

  6. mikey says:

Politicians writing memoirs = self-promotion, nothing else.

  7. Stephen Stein says:

Sounds like Brown read my comment – his campaign has been OK’ed by the FEC to buy a ton of his books!

  8. taxedout says:

Against All Odds…should be the title for the Mass citizens living in this state!!!

  9. jerry says:

SEN scott browns book should be labeled sci fiction in my opinion because i think it is nothing but a story made up.
