Son Killed, Father Injured In Medford Shooting

MEDFORD (CBS) — A son was killed, his father injured in a double shooting in Medford Friday night.

Police say John Hatch, 36, died at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. His father, whose name and age have not been released, was first taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital then transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital where he is expected to survive.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Doug Cope reports.

The shooting happened at 10:40 p.m. Friday at 55 Jerome Street in Medford.

Authorities say they do not believe the shooting was random.

Medford and state police with the Middlesex District Attorney’s office continue to investigate.

    I don’t know what happen here because it sounds so strange that no one in the neighborhood heard or saw anything unusual going on, and the police said it wasn’t a random act of violence. Could it be that there was some kind of argument going on between father and son? If I’m wrong then my apologies goes out to the family, but this wouldn’t be the first time that family members were caught up in a fight that lead to murder.
