Wednesday's Child: 13-Year-Old Izzy

BOSTON (CBS) -- Yismael, who goes by Izzy, is a 13-year-old young man of Dominican ethnicity who is proud of his heritage. He has a sweet and endearing personality which shines through when he is interacting both with adults and his peers. He makes friends very easily and feels that being a good friend is one of the most important things in his life.

Participating in sports also means a lot to lzzy, with skateboarding being his favorite, and basketball and baseball coming in as close seconds. He feels he has the athletic skills to go far. Other favorite activities include writing poetry, cooking, and singing. He might also like to learn how to play the drums or piano someday.

Meet Izzy

Izzy does well in his foster home when the rules and expectations are clear to him. He is very helpful around the house and respectful to the members of his household. Due to gaps in his education in his early years, Izzy can struggle with academic basics and completing his school work. Izzy is an intelligent teen who welcomes the support and information he needs in order to do well. He enjoys school, especially math and the arts. He has expressed interest in becoming a professional baseball player or an engineer when he grows up.

Legally free for adoption, Izzy would like a family where he could have two parents or a single mom or dad, with or without other children. He has asked to be placed in a home, which has really great public schools in the area. A family that is open to Izzy's strong ethnic identity would also be ideal.  Izzy has a lot to bring to a family who can commit to him while he continues his journey towards success.

To learn more about Izzy, and about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678) or visit http://www.mareinc.org/. The sooner you call, the sooner a waiting child will have "a permanent place to call HOME."
