Water Main Break Affects Traffic On Route 9 In Worcester

WORCESTER (CBS) – A portion of Route 9 through Worcester was closed on Wednesday afternoon due to a water main break.

A drilling company doing work for Mass. Highway inadvertently broke through a 12-inch water main, officials said.

A nearby hospital was not affected by the break. An elderly high-rise complex, however, was reportedly being affected by the break.

Motorists are advised to avoid Route 9 (also known as Belmont Street) in that area.
