13-Year-Old Boy Suspect In Fenway Armed Robberies

BOSTON (CBS) – A 13-year-old boy apparently thought he was too young to be arrested.

He was wrong.

Police say the Roxbury teen threatened to stab a woman Sunday near the Massachusetts College of Art if she didn't give him money.

Officers caught the boy a short time later.

He's also suspected in other hold-ups in the Fenway area.

Investigators say he told police he thought he wasn't old enough to be arrested.

Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 Tuesday the teen will be charged as an adult.

"In this particular case, there's been a series of armed robberies that we attribute to this boy, so we're really looking at holding him fully accountable for what he was doing," Davis said.

"When you're 13 years old and pulling a knife and robbing people, there's a lot going on here that needs to be looked at. The family situation needs to be looked at. The school situation needs to be looked at."

The boy is being held in juvenile custody.
