Milford Officer Saves Choking Toddler

MILFORD (CBS) - A Milford police officer has been credited with saving a toddler's life.

Officer Robert Tusino responded to reports of a 14-month-old boy choking. He performed the Heimlich maneuver and cleared the toddler's air passage.

Tusino, who is also a paramedic, said everyone should learn these life-saving procedures.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Doug Cope reports.

"A lot of people don't think they can do it, but they really can. It's very easy. There's so many children helping other people because they know CPR and obviously obstructed airway procedures," said Officer Tusino. "It's something everyone should take some time and have the whole family take the class."

Tusino said the family of the toddler was very thankful and he's glad the boy is OK.

"I'm just happy it worked out so well, and the repetitive training really comes through in a situation like that," said Tusino.
