Local Egyptians Continue To Celebrate Mubarak's Resignation
BOSTON (CBS) -- Local Egyptians continued their celebrating of President Hosni Mubarak's resignation throughout the weekend.
"This is a day, it's not going to die. We're going to celebrate forever," said Osama Azama, who moved here from Egypt eight years ago.
Another large party was being planned at Harvard University Saturday night.
WBZ-TV's Alana Gomez reports.
Mohamed Torky arrived at Boston Logan Saturday afternoon from Cairo. Torky, who was visiting relatives in Egypt, found out the news during his flight.
"Everybody's really happy about the resignation of the president about the change in government," said Torky.
What that change in government will be is anyone's guess.
"This is a country that has had no politics and now it's supposed to rebuild politics and the question is how will they organize themselves," said Professor Shai Feldman, Director of the Crown Center for Middle East Studies at Brandeis University.
"For the moment the military has taken over and you have this paradox where a military has been entrusted with overseeing a transition to democracy, and they have no experience," said Professor Feldman.
Local Egyptians said any change is good change.
"I'm not worried for the future because whatever is going to be is going to better than what we had," said Azama.
