HAMILTON (CBS) – There will be no winter vacation in the Hamilton-Wenham School District later this month.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Doug Cope reports

The school committee voted Thursday night to make students attend classes February 22-25, to make up four days lost to the snow and snow removal from school roofs.

They will also have to go to class on May 27, which was a teacher development day.

If a student does take the week in February off, they’ll have to make up any missed tests and homework.

When I was teaching I never understood why school districts didn’t simply tell staff and parents not to make plans until after June 30 . That’s how I made my plans. Snow happens. Of course the same people who don’t want to start school before labor day don’t want to go late into June. Hamilton Wenham’s original closing date was Wednesday, June 15 There are 12 more possible weekdays for school during the month
