Duxbury Police Say Elderly Woman Beaten By Drunk Man

DUXBURY (CBS) - A 72-year-old Duxbury woman is recovering from a severe beating today, at the hands of a man she was trying to help. "This was just unfathomable," said Duxbury Police Chief Matt Clancy.

On Tuesday night, 37-year-old Mike Hennebury of Hanover was driving drunk, according to police.  He ran off the road in a quiet Duxbury neighborhood, coming to a stop in a front yard.

The 72-year-old woman came out of her house to see if she could help, and Hennebury jumped from his truck, knocked her down, and started kicking her in the face with his boots.

WBZ-TV's Bill Shields reports from Duxbury.

Clancy says "she just wanted to make sure he was o.k., and after he pushed her down, he kicked her viciously in the face several times."

The elderly lady made it back into her home , and called police.  Luckily, Hennebury was still stuck in the snow...now he's stuck in jail.

He'll be charged with Assault and Battery on a Person over 60, which is a felony.

Also, this will be Hennebury's 4th OUI, so he falls under Megan's Law, which hands down stiff penalties for repeat drunk driving.
