Sisters Use Girl Scout Project To Cheer Up Veterans, Elderly
NORTH ATTLEBORO (CBS) - Twin sisters from North Attleboro turned a girl scout project into something so thoughtful, it caught the governor's attention.
The girls seem like any other eighth graders, but if you scratch the surface just a little, and you'll find that Monique and Gianna Desrochers are very special.
WBZ-TV's Bill Shields reports.
Gov. Deval Patrick met with the girls on Tuesday after they both turned in their girl scout projects. Monique made 1,000 greeting cards for soldiers at the Providence V.A.
"So, I wanted to help them out just like by cheering them up," said Monique.
Gianna, meanwhile, made hundreds of earrings and crafts for residents at a local nursing home.

"Well, I love making crafts and I thought people might be happy if they saw little crafts that people made. It might make them smile," said Gianna.
Some of the girls' classmates at St. Mary's Sacred Heart helped out, so Gov. Patrick met with them too.
"I come to schools at least once a week because it's a reminder of the significance of the work we do, if we do it well," said Gov. Patrick.
The girls are working to get the Girl Scout Silver Award.
