Competency Hearing Scheduled In Stabbing Murder Case

WOBURN (AP) - A Shirley man accused of stabbing his former girlfriend to death has a hearing scheduled to determine whether he is competent to stand trial.

Robert Gulla is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his ex-girlfriend, Allison Myrick. Prosecutors say the 20-year-old Gulla fatally stabbed Myrick at his home in January 2010, then stabbed and shot himself. Myrick was a Fitchburg State College student.

Gulla has a competency hearing scheduled Monday in Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn.

Gulla had been charged with assaulting Myrick twice in 2009.
