BOSTON (CBS) – Powder alert!  The one-two punch of snow delivered a foot or more of new powder, just in time for the weekend warriors.

Sugarloaf has over 130 trails open and welcomes Rusted Root to the lodge.  Thanks to 10-16 inches of new snow, Maine and New Hampshire and 100% open with soft runs and knee-deep powder in the glades.

In the search for the most extreme skier, they are taking on the moguls, steeps, jumps and cliffs at Mad River in the unconventional terrain competition this weekend.  Check out powderama from Okemo, Sugarbush and Stowe.  Bring your goggles to take on 8-14 inches of new snow.

Over a foot of new snow in Southern New England went to waste with an icy mix, but the groomers are out and conditions are great.

WBZ-TV’s Joe Joyce reports.

Fresh new snow is likely Saturday which will keep the powerhounds happy.  Sunday will have clouds and lingering flurries on the way up the mountain.

When you try to take on the steeps, the key is not to be scared….
