Rep. Keating Named To 3 House Committees

BOSTON (AP) - U.S. Rep. Bill Keating, state's newest member of Congress, has found out which committees he'll be sitting on when he returns to Washington.

The 10th Congressional District Democrat has been named to the House's Small Business, Homeland Security and Foreign Affairs committees.

Keating, whose district stretches from Quincy through Cape Cod, said the assignments reflect some of the issues he ran on last year.

He said creating jobs is one of his top priorities and sitting on the small business committee will help him work on the economic recovery. He also said the recent events in Egypt show the importance of foreign relations.

Keating defeated Republican Jeff Perry to fill the seat left open by former Democratic Rep. William Delahunt's decision not to seek re-election.
