Brighton Residents Furious About Parking Tickets During Storm

BOSTON (CBS) - Parking in Boston on a good day can be tough. Add tons of snow to narrow streets and that becomes nearly impossible.

Some that parked their cars along narrow streets in Brighton dug their cars out only to find they had a $35 ticket for being a foot away from the curb.

"There is no way I could get any closer to the curb and I got a ticket which is ridiculous cause of the mounds of snow. There is no way I'm going to pay that," said Adrienne Greenstein, who was one of many to find the parking ticket.

Up the street, Rabi Fettig got the same ticket.

WBZ-TV's Jonathan Elias reports.

"I don't know how they know where the curb is cause all I was parked next to was a giant snow bank," said Fettig.

The problem is the streets in this section of Brighton were narrow to begin with, but add all this snow and the street gets even more narrow.

Plow drivers have a very hard time clearing the street because their plows barely clear the cars.

"I don't know how I'm doing it it's very tight, very tight," says city plow driver Christopher Montmarquet.

Residents we spoke to are planning on fighting these tickets because now that the snow banks are so big, and hardened ice there is nothing they say then can do.

The one thing everyone who got a ticket that we spoke to is going to do is fight these tickets. They say they make no sense, and given the situation its unfair.
