Fall River Soldier Dies In North Carolina

FALL RIVER (CBS) — A soldier from Fall River has died.

Staff Sergeant Jason Pool, 51, of the 101st Field Artillery Unit out of Fall River died in North Carolina, according to Fall River’s mayor.

Mayor William Flanagan said Sgt. Pool had served with his unit in Afghanistan from January to July 2010. His death does not appear to be combat related, according to authorities.

Sgt. Pool is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Elizabeth; and two grandchildren.

“The City of Fall River mourns the loss of yet another Fall River soldier. We offer our condolences to his family and we will be there to provide them with all the support they need at this most difficult time,” Mayor Flanagan stated.
