LYNN (CBS) — A 14-year-old boy in Lynn was robbed at knifepoint of the $50 that he had earned shoveling.

Police say the teen had shoveled several driveways Thursday morning and made approximately $54. That afternoon, they say, a light-skinned black man in his early 20s came up to the teen, pointed a knife at his chest and demanded his money.

Authorities say the suspect was wearing a red Adidas jacket, a black hooded sweatshirt, a red backpack and black, red and white Nike sneakers. He also had a slight beard.

Apparently bayonettes are the armed robbery weapon of choice.

    Great reporting job!!
Picture of bills with a hundred on top for a 54 dollar robbery
and then a bit of confusion about the weapon..a gun with a sharpened barrel perhaps ?

  3. Sean says:

Was it a knife or a gun? The article says he was robbed at knife point and in the next sentence the knife turned into a gun to the chest. Which one was it?

  4. Cynic says:

WBZ really should use the caption “File Photo” .Most people know that they are that, but some don’t.

And we wonder why the students fail the MCAS… glad they are not reading the papers.

    1. Cynic says:

Even those that pass the MCAS don’t read the Newspapers because they can’t. The Schools spend so much time Teaching Kids about how many Mommies Sally has and how to put on a Condom that there is no time left to teach them to read.

One more dumb criminal…Bringing a Gun to a Knifepoint robbery.

Speaking of poor reading abilities, did anyone commenting on this article actually read it first? No gun is mentioned anywhere in it. I do agree that it’s poor reporting, though. It starts out by saying the amount was $50, then immediately changes it to $54, which was the amount the 14-year-old reported stolen. The “knife” was actually a machete, according to other news sources. Then there’s the file photo with an unrelated amount of money. Oh, and it wasn’t “a slight beard”, whatever that is. it was a thin-line beard along the jaw and chin. The kid gave a pretty good description. Too bad it was wasted on this reporter.

You are right…In the Second paragraph, last sentence, they changed “Gun’ to “Knife”…I guess someone does read these comments after all.
