Roche: Sox Brass Ready

Was over at Fenway Park on Friday afternoon for a Red Sox ticket event and it was quite evident that Spring Fever is in the air.

Sox manager Terry Francona plans on driving down to Fort Myers and said about the snow, "I'm sick of it. I think we're all getting ready to go south. this is a bit much."

He also added a thought about Bay Staters on the road, "The drivers here don't do good with all 4 lanes. When it's down to two, they're really nasty."

GM Theo Epstein was asked with all the snow just how much he was looking forward to spring training this year.

"It might be worth going down a few days early this year. My back can't take any more shoveling. It's rough."

Francona was also asked about Yankee GM Brian Cashman, who said the Red Sox right now are better on paper than the Yankees....

"That's not gonna help us win a lot of games. I love Cash, but I don't think that statement will get us any extra runs or anything. When people say that it means our ownership and our front office had a really good winter, but once the season starts it means it's time to go to work."

Red Sox pitchers and catchers are required to report for duty on February 13th. Physicals are on the 14th and the first official workout is slated for the 15th. The first full squad workout is slated for February 19th.
