Curious Which Is Snowier: January Or February

BOSTON (CBS) -- This winter we've had our fair share of snow, but it hasn't broken any records yet.

It has raised some questions, though.

Ellen of Tewksbury Declared her Curiosity asking "Maybe I shouldn't bring this one up, but since we have one of the snowiest months of January in a long time...what month usually has the most snow -- January or February?"

According to the National Weather Service's climate records, January actually beats out February by a little more than an inch in average snowfall.

January averages 12.8 and February averages 11.5.

But remember, February is typically three days shorter. And as we all know, three days can make a big difference.
