Boston Home Show
Looking to breathe fresh life into your home? Head to Suffolk Downs this weekend to meet with the experts. Kitchens, bathrooms, floors, windows and green energy options will be featured by hundreds of exhibitors. There are free wine tastings, professional chef demonstrations and giveaways – including a kitchen makeover. Tickets are $10; kids under 12 get in free. Parking is also free.
Northeast Motorcycle Show
World Trade Center

The “Motorcycles, Midgets and Mayhem” tour pulls into Boston this weekend. The expo features hundreds of motorcycles, dealers, vendors and merchandise. The Half Pint Brawlers from SPIKE TV, the Motorcycle Monster and the Finnegan’s Circus Sideshow will also be appearing. Tickets are $15 for adults and $7 for kids.
Flora in Winter
You only have to look outside your window to see old man winter still has his grip on us, but flowers are in bloom in Boylston and Worcester. The 9th Annual Flora in Winter, A Floral Extravaganza takes place Saturday and Sunday at the Tower Hill Botanic Garden in Boylston and the Worcester Art Museum in Worcester. Fresh floral arrangements conjuring up thoughts of warmer days are on display.
Outdoor Ice Skating
The newly opened Faneuil Hall outdoor skating rink is a great place to take the family. You can check out the shops, grab a bite to eat, and then lace up your skates. The rink is open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for kids, or $10 for a family of four. Skate rentals are available for an additional fee.
Model Ships Show
USS Constitution Museum, Charlestown
The 32nd Annual Ship Model Show opens at the Constitution Museum this weekend, and stays in place through mid-March. “With nearly 100 handcrafted models of all sizes, types and materials, you can explore the intricate art of model making and carving as practiced today.” Modelers will be on hand to answer questions and there are hands-on activities for the family. The show is open 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily. Admission is free, though donations are accepted.
The Secret Garden
Wheelock Family Theater
200 The Riverway, Boston
It’s a story that has enthralled generations of readers and is now playing on stage. The Secret Garden opened at the Wheelock Family Theater. Based on the book by Frances Hodgson Burnett, Susan Kosoff and Jane Staab have put together a terrific musical for the Wheelock. This story has been called an homage to the healing powers of nature. The Secret Garden will run through the end of February, so buy your tickets now for the upcoming winter vacation week. Show times are Friday nights at 7:30 and Saturdays and Sundays at 3 o’clock. There will be special showings during school vacation week.
