BOSTON (CBS) – Destiny is a happy, engaging African American girl with a silly and quirky side to her. She has made great progress in school over the past year and may have a bright academic future ahead. Destiny hopes to grow up to become a teacher, and one of favorite pastimes is playing pretend school.

Destiny can be shy at first and takes time to warm up to new people. She plays well one on one and also enjoys solo activities, including riding her bicycle, reading, watching cartoons and shows like Hannah Montana. Additionally, Destiny enjoys attending an after-school program.

Destiny currently lives in a foster home where she is doing very well. She likes doing chores around the house, including making her bed and washing dishes. Presently in the fourth grade, Destiny is in a mainstream classroom and receives services for math and reading. She has some difficulty processing information. Due to a history of trauma, Destiny is working through emotional and behavioral issues. She responds well to a “token system” as praise for good behavior.

Destiny would do best in a structured and nurturing family setting where she is the only or youngest child. Destiny’s social worker is seeking a single mom, same sex female parents or a mom and dad who will help her to keep in contact with her two brothers. Destiny is legally free for adoption.
