CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — A New Hampshire man who died in a snowmobile crash lost his 19-year-old son in an accident involving the same machine nearly five years ago.
Sixty-two-year-old Norman D. Mabie was riding in Gilford on Saturday when he struck a rock, went off a trail and hit a tree. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
In March 2006, his son, Norman M. Mabie, drowned after breaking through the ice on Lake Winnipesaukee while riding a snowmobile. A friend who was with him got out of the water and survived.
The Concord Monitor reports the younger Mabie was riding the same snowmobile his father used.
