Bruins-Kings Preview
BOSTON (CBS) - Hope you are able to sneak in a quick nap Monday after work, unless you have an understanding boss Tuesday morning. The Bruins and Kings do not drop the puck until 10:30 p.m. Eastern at the Staples Center Monday night, meaning you are in for some late night hockey.
The way the Bruins have been playing, it may be worth it. The B's have won three of their last four, and six of their last eight contests. They also seem to play better on the road, going 15-5-5 away from the TD Garden. The Kings on the other hand have only won three of their last 10 games.
The Bruins will be without Center Marc Savard, who is back in Boston for an MRI Monday afternoon. Savard was checked head-first into the boards during Saturday's 6-2 win over the Avalanche, and fears are he could have suffered another concussion. Savard missed the first 23 games this season while recovering from a Grade 2 concussion he suffered last season on March 5th courtesy of a Matt Cooke cheap shot. Savard had looked better in recent weeks, tallying an assist in two of his last three games. He is just one assist away from the 500th of his career.
Bruins fans also will not get to see former Bruin Marco Sturm. Sturm was traded to LA in December for salary cap reasons, and was placed on the IR last week with a "lower body injury." In 15 games with the Kings, Sturm scored four goals to go along with four assists.
Who is hot for the Bruins? Rookie Brad Marchand scored two goals to go along with two assists Saturday afternoon. The winger is tied for fourth on the team with 12 goals, and his plus-21 is tied for second on the Bruins and tops among NHL rookies.
