Savard Knocked Out After Hard Check Into Boards

DENVER (AP) - Boston Bruins center Marc Savard was hurt on a check into the boards and did not return in a game against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday.

Savard stayed down on the ice for a few minutes before being helped to the dressing room holding a towel to his head. He was hit by former teammate Matt Hunwick early in the second period.

The Bruins wouldn't elaborate on the extent of the injury.

Savard has two goals and eight assists this season for Boston.

He's one assist shy of 500 for his career.
