Snow Followed By Bitter Cold Forecast

BOSTON (CBS) - Happy Friday!  Even happier if you might be lucky enough to have today off from work or school.

The storm is playing out as forecast, we still expect this to be a very quick moving storm, done and out of here by midday.

Watch Melissa Mack and Barry Burbank's forecast

The heaviest of the snowfall will be between 6-and-10 a.m. and right in eastern Massachusetts. Snowfall rates up to an inch an hour will fall during this time.

You can expect a total snow accumulation between 4-to-7 inches for most of us, a few spots could get a bit more, and a bit less down over the South Coast and Cape Cod due to some mixing with rain (2-to-4 inches).

The winter storm warning is in effect until 3 p.m. for all of Massachusetts and southern N.H. except for Cape Cod.

There are no wind or coastal concerns with this storm, a relative easy one compared with the blizzards and ice we have dealt with in the past several weeks.

The snow will largely be light and fluffy, easy to move and shovel.

This could also lead to slightly higher amounts where temperatures are in the low 20's due to a "fluff factor."

Closer to the coast and in southeastern Massachusetts the snow will have a heavier and wetter consistency.

So a short duration, high impact snow event on this Friday morning for all of southern New England and all the snow that falls will be sticking around for quite some time.

An Arctic blast is on the way for the next several days with temperatures the lowest we have seen in several years.
