Revere Murder Suspect To Undergo Mental Health Evaluation

CHELSEA (AP) -- A 27-year-old man accused of killing a counselor at a Revere mental health facility and dumping her body at a church parking lot in Lynn is being held without bail as experts determine whether he is competent to stand trial.

A plea of not guilty was entered Friday on behalf of Deshawn James Chapell of Chelsea on a charge of murder. A Chelsea District Court clinician described him as schizophrenic and a judge sent him off to Bridgewater State Hospital for mental health evaluation.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Mark Katic reports.

Authorities say an investigation shows Chapell stabbed 25-year-old Stephanie Moulton of Peabody at the North Suffolk Mental Health Association on Thursday. The victim's body was found later near St. George Greek Orthodox Church.

Chapell was a resident at the privately run mental health facility. He was arrested in Boston.

WBZ-TV's Jim Armstrong reports.
