Whole Foods Set To Replace Hi-Lo Foods In Jamaica Plain

JAMAICA PLAN (CBS) – The Hi-Lo Foods store has served Jamaica Plain residents for years, but now it’s set to be closed and replaced by a store from the Whole Foods chain.

Local residents and employees are upset.

WBZ News Radio 1030’s Doug Cope reports.

“I feel bit of sad, because…I work in here for 24 years, and now I got to look for job. And the community is very sad,” said a Hi-Lo employee.

Hi-Lo Foods, which has been open in JP for 47 years, could close in three to four weeks, manager Bill Jordan told the Jamaica Plain Gazette.

Everyone is making a huge deal out of Whole Foods coming to JP. I can see both positive and negative. For my money, this sums it up best.
