SCITUATE (AP) — People and businesses from all over the South Shore are coming together to help Scituate residents affected by the Christmas weekend storm.
A fundraiser to help the families, featuring a buffet dinner and entertainment from three comedians, is scheduled to take place Saturday night at the Barker Tavern in Scituate.
The food for the dinner was donated by a number of area companies.
Tavern owner Becky Smith tells The Patriot Ledger of Quincy she came up with the idea after one of her own employees had to be rescued from her home after storm-blown waves broke over the sea wall.
All proceeds from the fundraiser will be donated to the Scituate Family Relief Fund.
