Bright Start...Snowy Scenario Ahead

It's going to be a cool, yet sunshiny start to the work week.  A few clouds will rotate southeastward this afternoon due to energy at the 500mb level.  Otherwise, our high temps will reach the upper 20s (Central Mass.) to the lower 30s.  Quiet weather prevails thru Tuesday as highs reach the lower 30s.  Then...

Mid-week Coastal Storm:  Starting Tuesday, a double-barrel low develops with one surface low located in the Ohio River Valley and one located near the Mid-Atlantic coastline.  The coastal low intensifies as it 'swallows' the energy of the Greta Lakes surface low.  The heaviest snow is expected late Tuesday night thru Wednesday afternoon.  The onset of precipitation may start as a wintry mix for the Cape and Islands as weak warm air advection wraps around the vortex of the low.   At this point, I'd estimate a 6-12" snowfall spread from this storm with higher amounts inland. Time to get ready for sledding, snow blowing, skiing, and making snow Angels. :)
