Another Plum Island House Destroyed

NEWBURY (CBS) -- The latest house on Plum Island to lose its battle with Mother Nature is on Annapolis Way.

Like at least two other oceanfront homes on the street, number 27 suffered serious damage during the storms last March.

WBZ-TV's Jim Armstrong reports.

A new owner bought the property one month ago and had hoped to refurbish it and use it for rental income. He now tells WBZ he plans to rebuild eventually.

Newbury's building commissioner decided the house needed to be demolished and moved the wrecking up one day to make sure all the debris is removed in advance of this week's expected snow storm.

Residents say they are determined to get state and federal backing that would allow them to spend private money to protect their property from future storms.
