6-Year-Old Girl Hurt In Hit & Run

BOSTON (CBS) – Police are looking for the driver who hit a six-year-old girl Saturday night and drove off.

The girl was walking home from church with her parents around 8:30 p.m. when she was hit by a silver Jeep Cherokee at the intersection of Cambridge St. and Harvard Ave. in Brighton.

WBZ Radio’s Kim Tunnicliffe reports

She was rushed to Children’s Hospital Boston, where she’s being treated for what police call “life-altering head trauma.”

“The little girl suffered a fractured neck and I think, initially, there was some bleeding to the brain,” Officer Eddy Chrispin told WBZ-TV Sunday.

Investigators say the Cherokee has front end damage and possibly one or two broken headlights.
