Wegmans To Hire 600 For Northboro Store

NORTHBORO (CBS) -- When Wegmans opens its first grocery store in Massachusetts this fall, it plans to have 600 employees at the Northboro store. The company is starting the hiring process started Tuesday, with Wegmans saying it will hire 550 people locally, 150 of them for full-time positions.

Wegmans, which is headquartered in Rochester, N.Y., has 77 stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia and Maryland.

It has been named one of the "100 Best Companies To Work For" by FORTUNE magazine for 13 years. In 2010, it was number three on the list.

Applications for the Northboro store, which will be in Northboro Crossing, can be filled out online, they are not accepted at the store or construction site. The company plans to hold career information sessions at their office in Westboro next month, and start interviewing candidates in March.

When complete, the Northboro store will be 145,000 square feet.
