MBTA Rolls Out Quiet Commuter Rail Cars

BOSTON (CBS) – Commuter rail passengers asked for it and now they're getting a quieter ride to and from work.

The MBTA introduced "quiet cars" on the Fitchburg and Franklin lines Monday.

They are the ones closest to the locomotive.

Passengers in these designated quiet cars cannot use their cell phones or iPods and talking is reduced to a whisper.

The pilot program will run for 90 days.

If it's popular with riders, you can expect to see the program expand.
