Sources: Garnett Injured Calf, Not Knee

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (CBS) - Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett limped off the court Wednesday night with a leg injury and did not return.

There was speculation that it was his surgically repaired right knee, which he hurt back in the spring of 2009.

But sources told WBZ-TV's Steve Burton that Garnett has a right calf injury and it is not the knee.

Less than 10 minutes into the game against the Detroit Pistons, Garnett went up for a dunk and felt a burning sensation. He came down gingerly.

He will have an MRI to determine if the calf muscle has been torn from the bone.

X-rays have already confirmed there are no fractures.

The team's medical staff will meet with Garnett Thursday.

After the game Doc Rivers said trainer Ed Lacerte told him Garnett would be alright.

Rivers said Garnett will miss some games but doesn't think it's that bad.
