BURLINGTON (CBS) — According to the Mass Retail Association, retailers are reporting a strong holiday shopping season. For some small businesses, sales are up double digits.
But last minute shoppers searching for bargains may not find discounts as deep as they’d expect.
WBZ-TV’s Karen Anderson reports.
Analysts say sales are up this year, and many retailers were careful not to overstock their shelves. For those reasons, they haven’t had to make deep cuts to move inventory.
Most of the people at the Burlington Mall we talked with on Wednesday night say they are spending as much or more than last year.
Laura Hatziandreaou says she is pleased with the bargains she’s found since Thanksgiving. “The sales are good,” she said. “The retailers are definitely making the sales right. Good prices. Luring people in.”
Greg Marshall tells us he’s spending more as well. Why? “The economy is coming back, businesses is up.”
