Report: Fitchburg Police Justified In Fatal Shooting

FITCHBURG (AP) -- Two Fitchburg police officers were justified to fatally shoot a Gardner woman after she robbed a store and led officers on a high-speed chase in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

That's according to Worcester District Attorney's Joseph Early. His office said Wednesday that an investigation by state police detectives determined that 40-year-old Leslie Moore ignored repeated warnings from armed officers and endangered numerous lives.

Moore and a companion robbed a Fitchburg variety store on Oct. 13 then led police on a chase through several towns before abandoning the car in Rindge, N.H.

The women allegedly took another car back to Fitchburg, where Moore was fatally shot after police said she crashed into several cruisers and refused to stop.

The officers who shot Moore have been on administrative leave awaiting the outcome of the investigation.
