WOBURN (AP) – Another Massachusetts state trooper has been injured on the job.

A department spokesman says the trooper was taken to Lahey Clinic in Burlington with minor injuries on Monday night after his cruiser was struck by another vehicle while he was working a construction detail on Interstate 93 in Woburn.

The Tewksbury man who allegedly struck the trooper was also hospitalized with minor injuries.

State police say both vehicles sustained “significant damage.”

No names were released.

The incident remains under investigation.

Several state troopers have been struck on the job in the past several months, including Sgt. Doug Weddleton, who was killed June 18 by an allegedly drunken driver.

  1. seeing blue says:

the state police are missing the point that the new higher intensity rooftop blues are great at grabbing the motorists’ eye from a distance, but closeup they temporarily blind the immediate passing motorist. That coupled with the cruiser’s policy of setting up partially in the adjacent travel lane causes even the soberest of operators to temporarily lose their internal lane compass, and if there is a vehicle in the next lane over, evasive maneuver or over correction occurs. I am not surprised there have not been more incidents.
