Bentley Coach 1 Game Away From 800th Win

BOSTON (CBS) -- For 36 years, basketball coach Barbara Stevens has loved her job.

"Because I love the daily interaction with the young women I work with," said Coach Barbara Stevens.

Stevens has been the head coach at Bentley University for 25 years, but she is about to do something only four other women have done before her, and she doesn't want to talk about it.

"We've never heard her mention it," said player Kim Brennan.

What she doesn't mention is the next win for this coach will be her 800th -- a major milestone, unless you ask her.

WBZ-TV's Kate Merrill reports.

"It's a great thing, I guess, from what everyone says, but to me personally, it's not about the wins and losses, its about our performance," said Stevens.

Her players couldn't disagree with her more.

So the team is pulling together to win on Sunday.

After this weekend's game, the team heads out on the road, so they want to make sure they pull out a win in front of a home crowd.

But for Stevens, it will actually be a relief to win – because she'll be able to move on from it. "I actually want the focus off me and back on them -- where it should be."
