News And Notes Around The NFL And Beyond

BOSTON (CBS) -- Here are some news and notes from around the NFL and beyond.

Patriots rookie linebacker Brandon Spikes has been suspended 4 games by the NFL for violating the leagues substance policy. "I've been contacted by the NFL and informed that I will be suspended four games for the detection of an illegal substance in a drug test," Spikes said in a statement released through the Patriots. "The substance was a medication that I should have gotten clarification on before taking. It was not a performance enhancer or an illegal drug. The integrity of the game is very important to me. I understand the league's ruling and apologize to my teammates, the fans and the Patriots organization for this mistake."

Now because Spikes is not appealing, he is able to return to the team on January 3rd. That's the day after the Patriots final regular season game.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wants Tony Romo to play this season. Romo has been sidelined since Oct. 25 when he broke his collarbone in a loss to the Giants, and would only be able to return for the team's final two games, at Arizona on Dec. 25 and at Philadelphia on Jan. 2. "I want to do anything we can to win those games. (The decision) will be based on what gives us the best chance to win," Jones said. "And, when he's ready to go, he's going to be ready. I shouldn't be concerned about additional injury to his shoulder."

Soccer 6 chimes in with a talented blog entry. First and foremost 6 wanted me to mention that "Basketball Wives" season 2 starts on Sunday. Apparently one awful season was not enough, we have a sequel. VH1 should get served a warrant for making people dumber. 6 already has the popcorn ready and the lazy boy set. That's SAD, so SAD.

Soccer says Lebron James' most interesting people sit down with Barbara Walters never happened. Maybe after careful thought, Mrs. Walters found Lebron more annoying than anything else. So now Soccer does not know what Lebron has in common with Sandra Bullock. After minutes of crying, 6 got it back together and realized the promo was just a lie to get people to watch. Then Soccer tells me the tears started to flow again. 6's favorite part of the show was the Jersey Shore cast (just nasty really, really nasty), and Justin Beiber. Soccer 6 has Beiber Fever???? I think now I am about to break down and cry. Side note how dare Justin Beiber get on SportsCenter and do a spoof with Kenny Mayne on Tom Brady. Beiber needs a beat-down.

Football Wives had breaking news on their show and Soccer 6 was right there to pick it up. Apparently, Tony Romo is dating Candice Crawford, a local TV personality in the Dallas area. Candice made an appearance on Football Wives at a Dallas charity event and dropped the news. I cannot believe people are watching reality shows for breaking news information. So while your reading this, raise your hand if you have seen an episode of Football Wives. Now, while your hand is up, cut it off. You should be ashamed of yourself. This show is garbage and what's even worse is people are turning to it for celebrity gossip news. Soccer is now left handed.

Thanks people for reading the blog and thank you Soccer 6.
