BOSTON (CBS) — WBZ TV’s Dan Roche has confirmed that the Red Sox have completed a trade that will bring Adrian Gonzalez from San Diego to the Sox in exchange for prospects Casey Kelly, Anthony Rizzo, Rey Fuentes, and a player-to-be-named-later.

The Sox seemed to make the ideal deal to get him. Three good prospects, but no Iglesias or Kalish, etc.

Gonzalez would be the cornerstone of the franchise for the next 7-8 years. Put him in the 3-or-4 hole and watch him take the keys from David Ortiz.

WBZ News Radio’s Doug Cope has fan reaction to Gonzalez trade.

However, it looks like a deal is in place with no contract extension. That is being reported by Joel Sherman of the NY Post. Perhaps that will get done down the road because of luxury tax reasons.

    I don’t understand, The guy came to Boston yesterday, and now it’s over, no Gonzales, something just doesn’t smell right here, or why else would Adrian take the time to come to Boston, and for what an iffy.
