Missing Man's Body Found In Boston Harbor

BOSTON (CBS) -- The family of Eugene Losik confirms that the body found in Boston Harbor at the beginning of the month is his.

Losik, who was a 25-year-old electrical engineer with Raytheon, went missing on February 20, 2010 after going out to celebrate a friend's birthday in Faneuil Hall. He was last seen near the Marriot Long Wharf.

Losik's family says his body was recovered at Rowes Wharf on November 8.

While they were looking for him, Losik's family remained optimistic that they would find him alive. With the help of donations from friends and strangers, they rented billboards at Logan Airport hoping someone would recognize him.

Coverage of his disappearance stretched far beyond Boston. National outlets wrote stories about Losik and his family's search for their loved one.

According to Losik's obituary, he was born in Belarus and emigrated with his parents to the U.S. on his seventh birthday. He was an honor roll student at North Andover High School and earned a degree in electrical engineering from University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Services will be held December 3 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Indian Ridge Country Club in Andover.

"This is what Gene would have wanted," Zhanna Losik said in her son's obituary, "to be remembered with shared stories, love and laughter. So, we have asked his friends to gather together and celebrate our son's life."
