Disappearing Arlington Cobbler Says He's Coming Back

ARLINGTON (CBS) -- Arlington police say a cobbler who closed up shop, leaving dozens of customers wondering if they'd ever get their shoes or money back, says he'll return the footwear next week.

James Richemond, formerly of David's Shoe Repair at 803 Mass Ave, met with police Friday morning.

Police say Richemond promised to have the shoes, boots and handbags ready for customers to pick up on Monday, November 22 at the shop he's about to open at 267 Main Street in Medford.

Arlington Police Inspector Brian Fennelly says he's taken complaints from 40 of Richemond's customers.

Fennelly says Richemond told police he went to Haiti to visit family.

Fennelly says he told Richemond he'll face criminal charges if property isn't returned on Monday.
