Lawyer: Green Line Crash Driver May Change Plea

BOSTON (AP) -- A former Boston subway operator who authorities say was texting during a crash that injured more than 60 people may change his plea this week.

Aiden Quinn initially pleaded not guilty to a charge of gross negligence by a person in control of a common carrier for the 2009 crash.

A change-of-plea hearing is scheduled for Friday.

Quinn's lawyer, James Sultan, said Quinn is considering changing his plea to guilty.

The charge carries a maximum sentence of 2 1/2 years.

Prosecutors have said that the 26-year-old Quinn admitted typing a text message to his girlfriend in the moments before his Green Line trolley crashed into the rear of another trolley beneath Government Center on May 8, 2009.

Quinn was fired after the accident.
