Waltham Husband, Wife Killed In Murder-Suicide

WALTHAM (CBS) -- A husband and wife were found dead in their home in Waltham Friday afternoon, and police say it was a murder-suicide.

WBZ's Jim Smith reports from the scene

Police say Michael Coutoumas shot his wife, Cynthia Coutoumas, and then shot himself. They were both 48 years old.

A neighbor of the Coolidge Avenue home called police just before 3 p.m. When police arrived they found the bodies of Mr. and Mrs. Coutoumas, both who with obvious gunshot wounds.

The Middlesex District Attorney's Office, along with Waltham Police, are continuing their investigation.

There have been 25 domestic violence murders in Massachusetts this year.

Laura Van Zandt with "Reach Beyond Domestic Violence" in Waltham says for every reported domestic violence incident, there are five to seven unreported incidents.
